Robert H. Porter, Jr. - President Robert H. Porter, Jr., is the co-founder of Bob Porter Company, Inc., and the founder of Porter Construction Management, Inc. He has been involved in the commercial construction industry for more than twenty-four years. After completing a four-year apprenticeship program in 1980, he was certified by the United Brotherhood of Joiners and Carpenters of America as a master journeyman carpenter. He represented the third generation of Porters to achieve such recognition.

Co-founding the company in 1979, Mr. Porter's duties ranged from carpenter, estimator, superintendent and overall project responsibilities. Recognizing the transient nature of field personnel and the resulting difficulties, Mr. Porter set out to provide a framework that would not only ensure long-term employment, but also make the employee aware that their performance is directly contingent to the success of the company. In this pursuit, Mr. Porter has been highly successful. The employees from the Bob Porter Company, Inc., from managers to laborers, are generally of long-term employment and are dedicated to producing the highest quality products and services available in the industry. By constantly recruiting and sharing the rewards of the business, Mr. Porter has steadily evolved the company to the current position of being recognized as one of the "best" in the industry. Testimony to these accomplishments is the continual repeat of client business as well as Inc. magazine's nomination for "Entrepreneur of the Year" award, in 1989.

In 1994, Mr. Porter founded Porter Construction Management, Inc., to serve as both the managing entity of Bob Porter Company and to fulfill the industry need for construction management services. Presently Mr. Porter actively participates in project management, company management and diversification of the company into facets of the construction industry that compliment its present business. In order to remain competitive and retain a level of quality and control rarely found elsewhere, trades such as millwork, electrical, glass & glazing and floorcoverings, have been brought in-house.

Mr. Porter is very much the "force" behind the Bob Porter Company, Inc. With a background in engineering, his expertise can prove extremely valuable for clients during the front end of a project, particularly in conceptualizing and analysis. He is recognized as a fierce competitor, and once the goals of the client have been established, Mr. Porter will diligently and effectively make sure these goals are realized.
